TEAM SPECIFICS

  1. A team consisting of 7 players, with no more than 5 players on the playing pitch at any point of time.
  2. Only registered team players are allowed to participate in the match.
  3. Registration fee: $12/pax
  4. There will be strictly no changes for the participating team lineup once the program commences.
  5. Players can be substituted at any point of the game with the notification of the referee. It must be done only after a player has left the field.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

  1. Beach soccer is a contact game that involves 5 players in a team attempting to score as many goals as possible against the opposing team in order to win in the given amount of time.
  2. Players other than the goalkeeper can use any part of their body other than their hands to play the ball and attempt to score. The 5 players include the goalkeeper as well, who will be defending the goalpost from any attempts to score. Any attempts by players to use their hands to score will be disallowed.
  3. Every game will have two referees, one in the playing field and the other acting as a score and timekeeper. Certain rules in a field soccer match such as the offside rule will not apply.
  4. The game will always start with a kick-off at the centre of the playing area and ends when the given time is up as indicated by the referee’s whistle.
  5. Players are to play by the referee’s whistle as well, stopping and starting when it has been blown.
  6. Any goal scored will lead to a restart of the game by the last defending goalkeeper.
  7. Shirt-pulling, physical conflict between opposing players, spitting, kicking sand purposely at opponents, handball, manhandling and violent conduct is the basic offences subjected to punishment.
  8. Any intentional attempts to take the ball when it is in the goalkeeper’s hands will also result in a foul.
  9. Substitutions made without referees’ acknowledgement as well as substitutes disrupting the game by throwing projectiles or entering into playing area intentionally will be penalized as well.
  10. Punishments will come in the form of warnings, yellow cards and red cards.
  11. If a player is suspended, he will not be allowed to participate in the game for up to 2 minutes.
Free Kicks
  1. Free kicks are to be taken when a foul is committed on any part of the field except for the penalty area.
  2. For the team taking the free kicks, they can choose whether to take an indirect or direct free kick anywhere on the pitch.
  3. Defending teams are only allowed to have a wall if the free kick is within their own half.
Penalties
  1. Penalties will be taken at the centre of the line marking out the penalty area.
  2. A penalty is to be re-taken if the following occurs.
  3. A foul will be considered if the penalty is taken before referee blows the whistle for approval.
  4. A foul will be considered if other players except the defending goalkeeper start to move before penalty is taken.

Out of Bounds

  1. Kick-ins are to be taken when ball goes out of bounds to the sides of the playing area.
  2. Kick-ins are to be indirect.
  3. Opposing players must be at least three steps away from the player taking the kick-in, where the distance will be determined by the referee.
  4. Corner kicks are to be taken when ball goes out of bounds to the goal side of the playing area.

Disqualifications/Walkovers

  1. Team will be disqualified if it is not present 5 minutes after the stipulated time to start the match.
  2. Team will be disqualified if teams are found to have played unregistered players at any point of the game.
  3. In case of withdrawal, team schedule will not be shuffled and the match will be considered as a 2-0 walkover.

GAME PLAY

  • Preliminary Rounds
    • The games will be conducted in a round robin format with 2 groups of 4.
    • Each match will last for 2 halves, 10 mins per half. A 3 mins break will be allocated in between of the halves.
    • In the event that two or more teams tie for a Semifinal berth, the teams will be arranged in order under the various priorities: 1. highest goal difference, 2. highest goals scored.
  • Quarterfinals
    • There will be no Quarterfinals. The top two from each group will move up to the Semifinals which the duration of play will be the same.
  • Semifinals and Finals
    • If a draw occurs in Semifinals or a Final, the duration of extra time play will be 5 mins per half with 2 minutes break before and between the extra time play.
    • If a draw persists after the extra time, the winner will be decided by a penalty shootout.

SCORING SYSTEM

  • 3 points for a win
  • 1 point for a draw
  • 0 points for a loss

MISCELLANEOUS
  1. Time will only be stopped for:
    1. Half-time
    2. Period of time needed to adjust positioning for free kicks and penalty kicks
    3. Injuries resulting in substitution.
    4. Fouls
  2. There will be no stoppage of time for rolling substitutions. Referees can allocate 1-2 minutes of extra time if the position of the ball is to the advantage of one side. When there is no distinct advantage, referees can end the game.
  3. Every decision made by the organizing committee will be final.
  4. Players are not allowed to wear any jewellery, accessories and watches. Ear studs are acceptable.
  5. Players are advised to be in comfortable attire.
  6. No footwear will be allowed during the game.
  7. Players are advised to wear socks in the case of the sand being really hot. However, socks can only be put on before or during half time. There will be no timeout or breaks given to put socks on.
  8. Girls are not allowed to wear skirts.
  9. Profanities are forbidden on court. Players will be warned and will be asked to leave the game if he/she had been warned repeatedly.
  10. Players are required to keep their fingernails short.
  11. No violent behaviour with the intention to hurt other participants and non-participants alike will be tolerated. Any intentional violence will result in instant expulsion for the player/s from the match.
  12. Players are not allowed to pull the shirt of their opponents.
  13. Signing on the verification slip would indicate that the whole team agrees that the score that is present on the slip at that point of time is accurate.
